This artwork by Sophie Calle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in October 2021. In the Contemporary Photographs auction, the work 'Christmas wreaths, Saint Lucie, a nice dog, railroad stations, the Eiffel Tower, all of that is beautiful' (from The Blind) sold for USD 30,240.00 (€ 26,177.29) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Sophie Calle have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 218,500.00 (€ 162,417.30).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sophie Calle erzielte im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Photographs wurde die Arbeit 'Christmas wreaths, Saint Lucie, a nice dog, railroad stations, the Eiffel Tower, all of that is beautiful' (from The Blind) für USD 30.240,00 (€ 26.177,29) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sophie Calle auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Sleepers (Les dormeurs) im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 218.500,00 (€ 162.417,30).
