In October this year Christies in Brussels held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Small Splotch #3 by Sol LeWitt. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,340.00 (€ 13,021.47), 62% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sol LeWitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Wavy Brushstrokes in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 449,000.00 (€ 636,531.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 62 % übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in Brüssel die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Small Splotch #3 von Sol LeWitt zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 11.340,00 (€ 13.021,47) und damit 62% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sol LeWitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Wavy Brushstrokes im Juli 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 449.000,00 (€ 636.531,19).
