In September 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction New Now: The Katayama Collection, which included the work Pop and Society by Slim Aarons. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,625.00 (€ 1,375.60), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Slim Aarons achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poolside Gossip, 1970 in April last year with an auction result of USD 40,320.00 (€ 38,265.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im September 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now: The Katayama Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pop and Society von Slim Aarons zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.625,00 (€ 1.375,60) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Slim Aarons erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Poolside Gossip, 1970 im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.320,00 (€ 38.265,16).
