In May last year Bonhams in Edinburgh held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work River Tyne, above Haddington by William George Gillies. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,530.00 (€ 1,799.90), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William George Gillies achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Spotted Leopard in April 2007 with an auction result of GBP 24,000.00 (€ 35,139.09).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Edinburgh die Auktion Scottish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit River Tyne, above Haddington von William George Gillies zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.530,00 (€ 1.799,90) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William George Gillies erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Spotted Leopard im April 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 24.000,00 (€ 35.139,09).
