Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Standing Nude by William Coldstream. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,099.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Coldstream - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Seated Nude, which sold at auction in November 2012 for GBP 73,250.00 (€ 90,236.57).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2010 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Standing Nude von William Coldstream zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 26.099,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Coldstream mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Seated Nude beobachtet, die im November 2012 für GBP 73.250,00 (€ 90.236,57) versteigert wurde.
