Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Scenes for 'The Tempest': Prospero, Miranda and sea nymphs; Ferdinand and Miranda; and A court scene by Joseph Noel Paton was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,045.04). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Noel Paton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mors Janua Vitae (Death the Gateway to Life) So wounded and weary from the conflict, he rose and followed the beckoning Shadow. His steps were feeble by reason of his sore hurts; but his heart quailed not, for he knew that ere now his Lord had trodd in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 65
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joseph Noel Paton konnte im Dezember 2005 bei Christies in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental wechselte die Arbeit Scenes for 'The Tempest': Prospero, Miranda and sea nymphs; Ferdinand and Miranda; and A court scene für GBP 720 (€ 1.045) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800 – 1.200. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Noel Paton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mors Janua Vitae (Death the Gateway to Life) So wounded and weary from the conflict, he rose and followed the beckoning Shadow. His steps were feeble by reason of his sore hurts; but his heart quailed not, for he knew that ere now his Lord had trodd im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 45.410 (€ 65.187).
