Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Christian at the foot of the cross - Pilgrim's Progress by Joseph Noel Paton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,699.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph Noel Paton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mors Janua Vitae (Death the Gateway to Life) So wounded and weary from the conflict, he rose and followed the beckoning Shadow. Im Dezember 2010 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Christian at the foot of the cross - Pilgrim's Progress von Joseph Noel Paton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 8.699,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
