Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The old gardener by Hubert von Herkomer was sold in the British Art on Paper auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,170.00 (€ 11,227.85), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Hubert von Herkomer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Miss Katherine Grant (The Lady in White) in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 96,914.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit The old gardener von Hubert von Herkomer wurde im November 2002 in der Auktion British Art on Paper bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.170,00 (€ 11.227,85) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Hubert von Herkomer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Miss Katherine Grant (The Lady in White) im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 96.914,21).
