In February 2007 Christies in London held the auction Christopher Wood A Very Victorian Eye, which included the work Head of a bearded man by Hubert von Herkomer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,120.00 (€ 4,625.29), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hubert von Herkomer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Miss Katherine Grant (The Lady in White) in December 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,250.00 (€ 96,914.21).

Im Februar 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christopher Wood A Very Victorian Eye durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head of a bearded man von Hubert von Herkomer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.120,00 (€ 4.625,29) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Hubert von Herkomer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Miss Katherine Grant (The Lady in White) im Dezember 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 81.250,00 (€ 96.914,21).
