Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a Young Woman, thought to represent Lily Pitman by George Clausen was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 14,025.00 (€ 15,956.15) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Clausen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gleaners in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 710,850.00 (€ 1,022,553.89).
