In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with the Polar Sale Including The Amundsen Collection, which included the work Shackleton-Rowett Quest Expedition, 1921-1922. A Union Jack presented to Shackleton by H.M. King George V in September 1921 by Ernest Henry Shackleton. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 31,200.00 (€ 46,026.58), 56% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ernest Henry Shackleton; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sir Ernest Shackleton'S Miniatures, As Worn sold at auction in November 2020 with the realized price of GBP 75,000.00 (€ 83,725.31).
