Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Arthur Stockdale Cope could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Portrait of Sir Samuel Hoare, Half-Length, In A Brown Coat, Waistcoat And Tie changed hands for GBP 360.00 (€ 524.30) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Other works by Arthur Stockdale Cope have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2004 by the work High up the Tamar at GBP 418.25 (€ 627.53).
