Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Melbourne from the Dandedongs by Arthur Streeton for GBP 61,250.00 (€ 64,330.32). This price was achieved in the auction Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 70,000.00 – 90,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Streeton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Melba'S Country, which sold at auction in November 2009 for AUD 312,000.00 (€ 190,250.50).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Dezember 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Melbourne from the Dandedongs von Arthur Streeton für GBP 61.250,00 (€ 64.330,32) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary Australian and South African Art bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 70.000,00 – 90.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur Streeton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Melba'S Country beobachtet, die im November 2009 für AUD 312.000,00 (€ 190.250,50) versteigert wurde.
