Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Simon Denis could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in June 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work A View Of Naples From The Portici, The Castel Dell'Ovo On The Left changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 12,049.85) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Denis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View Of Monticelli, Near Tivoli in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 242,500.00 (€ 185,411.73).
