This artwork by Sidney Herbert Sime achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2008. In the Children's & Illustrated Books & Original Illustrations auction, the work The Diver sold for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,231.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sidney Herbert Sime; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot 'The Guardians' sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 2,750.00 (€ 3,042.36).
