This work of art by Shiokawa Bunrin could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Japanese Aesthetic auction, the work Hanging scroll, ink on silk, of a boat in rain, signed Bunrin, sealed Bunrin and Shion, Maruyama-Shijo School changed hands for GBP 750.00 (€ 876.87) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,200.00. Despite this disappointing result, Hanging scroll, ink on silk, of a boat in rain, signed Bunrin, sealed Bunrin and Shion, Maruyama-Shijo School is the most expensive artwork by Shiokawa Bunrin that we have observed at auction so far.
