This artwork by Sheng Mao achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2021. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Scholar Leaning against a Pine Tree sold for HKD 1,000,000.00 (€ 111,189.86) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sheng Mao; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Playing The di In The Evening sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of HKD 1,200,000.00 (€ 131,297.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sheng Mao erzielte im November 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Scholar Leaning against a Pine Tree für HKD 1.000.000,00 (€ 111.189,86) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 400.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Sheng Mao; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Playing The di In The Evening im November 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 1.200.000,00 (€ 131.297,71).
