Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Dauntless ahead of Sappho off the Battery in New York Harbour by Shane Michael Couch was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2007. The price achieved of GBP 5,125.00 (€ 7,359.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shane Michael Couch - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Citizens cup race, Newport R.I., August 28th 1871 with Sappho, Columbia and Dauntless, which sold at auction in February 2006 for USD 24,000.00 (€ 20,125.79).

Die Arbeit Dauntless ahead of Sappho off the Battery in New York Harbour von Shane Michael Couch kam im Oktober 2007 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.125,00 (€ 7.359,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden.
