Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Edo period (1615-1868), early 19th century by Sengai Gibon for GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,496.97). This price was achieved in the auction Tradition Travel TransitionJapanese Art across the Centuries at Bonhams in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sengai Gibon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Famous moments in the lives of Zen monks in September 2011 with an auction result of USD 74,500.00 (€ 55,394.45).
