The work Christ and the Woman taken in Adultery ('Let he who is without sin cast the first stone') by Sebastiano Conca was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2005. It achieved a price of GBP 114,000.00 (€ 165,355.92), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sebastiano Conca - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of George Parker, 2nd Earl of Macclesfield, PRS, three-quarter-length, standing in front of the Colosseum, right hand resting on a map of Italy, a statue of the Apollo Belvedere on a giltwood and marble table, which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 378,000.00 (€ 426,725.18).
