Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Sargent Johnson achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in November 2020. In the American Art auction, the work Primitive Head sold for USD 17,812.50 (€ 14,908.35) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sargent Johnson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Hippopotamus sold at auction in May 2021 with the realized price of USD 19,062.50 (€ 15,632.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sargent Johnson erzielte im November 2020 bei Bonhams in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Primitive Head für USD 17.812,50 (€ 14.908,35) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Sargent Johnson; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Hippopotamus im Mai 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 19.062,50 (€ 15.632,69).
