Despite a disappointment, a good price for Sarah Sherwood Clarke
When the work Ten sketches in Scotland: Glencoe; Dunolly Castle (2); Glen Nevis (2); Ben Nevis; Loch Lomond; Roslin Castle; and two others (three illustrated) by Sarah Sherwood Clarke was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 687.50 (€ 883.06). Despite this disappointing result, Ten sketches in Scotland: Glencoe; Dunolly Castle (2); Glen Nevis (2); Ben Nevis; Loch Lomond; Roslin Castle; and two others (three illustrated) is the most expensive artwork by Sarah Sherwood Clarke that we have observed at auction so far.
