Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A sunny day, St Brelade's Bay, Jersey; and A squall approaching Rozel Bay, Jersey (both illustrated) by Sarah Louisa Kilpack was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,459.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Sarah Louisa Kilpack have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rough weather. The Grande Rocque, Cobo Bay, Guernsey in March 2007 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,418.30).
