This price was achieved in the auction A Fine Line: Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sarah Biffin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Self-Portrait Before Her Easel, Circa 1821, which sold at auction in December 2019 for GBP 137,500.00 (€ 162,508.91).
