The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,497.05), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Spode have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Voltigeur, With Job Mason Up in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,692.23).

Die Arbeit The Earl of Lonsdale on his old favourite, Tempest, Newmarket von Samuel Spode wurde im Dezember 2011 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.497,05) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Spode auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Voltigeur, With Job Mason Up im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.692,23).
