In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work Copenhagen, the charger of the Duke of Wellington by Samuel Spode. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,269.84), 57% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Samuel Spode; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Voltigeur, With Job Mason Up sold at auction in November 2006 with the realized price of GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,692.23).

Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Copenhagen, the charger of the Duke of Wellington von Samuel Spode zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.700,00 (€ 7.269,84) und damit 57% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Samuel Spode; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Voltigeur, With Job Mason Up im November 2006 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.692,23).
