Sold at the lower estimate price
In September 2008 Christies in London held the auction The Sporting Sale, which included the work Unknown by Samuel Howitt. The result of GBP 500.00 (€ 632.20) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Howitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A pair of tigers in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 11,162.50 (€ 18,678.27).
