Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction The Arthur Ackermann and Peter Johnson Collection: A Connoisseur's Choice, which included the work The Royal Buckhounds crossing the Thames near Windsor; and Pointing out the quarry by Samuel Howitt. The price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 795.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Howitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A pair of tigers in September 2000 with an auction result of GBP 11,162.50 (€ 18,678.27).

Im Mai 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Arthur Ackermann and Peter Johnson Collection: A Connoisseur's Choice durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Royal Buckhounds crossing the Thames near Windsor; and Pointing out the quarry von Samuel Howitt zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 625,00 (€ 795,03) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Howitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A pair of tigers im September 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.162,50 (€ 18.678,27).
