A top price for Samuel Gillespie Prout - as previously expected
In April 2003 Christies in London held the auction At Home - British and Continental Pictures & Works on Paper, which included the work A courtyard scene, France by Samuel Gillespie Prout. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 763.75 (€ 995.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, A courtyard scene, France is the most expensive artwork by Samuel Gillespie Prout that we have observed at auctions so far.
