Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Clearing The Buoy by Samuel Austin was sold in the British Art on Paper auction at Christies in London in June 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Samuel Austin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work St John's Market, Liverpool in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,307.34).
