This artwork by Sally James Farnham achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2008. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Portrait of Enos S. Booth sold for USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,882.47) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Sally James Farnham; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Two Elephants sold at auction in June 2014 with the realized price of USD 10,625.00 (€ 7,761.14).
