The work Tiger and peony; Chinese children playing by Sakai Hoitsu was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2003. It achieved a price of USD 20,315.00 (€ 18,637.61), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 35%. Admittedly, works by Sakai Hoitsu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Chofu Jewel River in March 2004 with an auction result of USD 113,525.00 (€ 92,356.82).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Tiger and peony; Chinese children playing von Sakai Hoitsu kam im März 2003 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 20.315,00 (€ 18.637,61) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 35%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sakai Hoitsu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Chofu Jewel River im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 113.525,00 (€ 92.356,82).
