Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishing boats in the Bay of Naples; and Fishing in the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius beyond by S. Maresca was sold in the British and Continental Pictures auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 1,103.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by S. Maresca - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A tune in the tavern; and A fine vintage, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,673.06).
