eight engravings, circa 1741, on laid papers, published in Amsterdam, No. XVII with hand-written identification in pencil, all with margins, all with the palest light- staining and minor surface soiling, a few soft handling creases on several plates, the occasional pale foxmark and a few small stains on several plates, otherwise all apparently in good condition, in ebony frames with gilded trim and French mats with wash lines, not examined out of the frames

Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Conchological Studies: Eight Plates by Rumpius for USD 1,912.00 (€ 1,557.00). This price was achieved in the auction The House Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Rumpius have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2004 by the work [Conchological Studies: Six Plates|AID888351] at USD 2,270.50 (€ 1,847.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Conchological Studies: Eight Plates von Rumpius für USD 1.912,00 (€ 1.557,00) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion The House Sale bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Andere Arbeiten von Rumpius wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im März 2004 die Arbeit [Conchological Studies: Six Plates|AID888351] mit USD 2.270,50 (€ 1.847,14).
