Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Desert Rider and his Faithful Companion by Rudolf Otto Ottenfeld was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,512.00 (€ 1,308.86). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rudolf Otto Ottenfeld achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work German After The Raid in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 58,100.00 (€ 73,905.74).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Desert Rider and his Faithful Companion von Rudolf Otto Ottenfeld im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.512,00 (€ 1.308,86) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rudolf Otto Ottenfeld erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit German After The Raid im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 58.100,00 (€ 73.905,74).
