Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A view of the bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background, taken from the villa Bocca Pianola in Castellammare di Stabia; and S. Croce, Castellammare di Stabia, drawn from the terrace of the villa Bocca Pianola by Rudolf Müller was worth GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,790.62) to a buyer in September 2016. This price was achieved in the auction Brian Sewell - Critic & Collector at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rudolf Müller; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Castel Gandolfo Am Nemisee (Castel Gandolfo On Lake Nemi) sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 11,130.38).
