Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Bonhams held the auction The Gift of Photographs, which included the work James Dean, Walking on 68th Street, New York by Roy Schatt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,530.00 (€ 1,430.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roy Schatt - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work James Dean, 1954, which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,342.22).
