In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Celebration for a Grey Day, No. 2 by Rory McEwen. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,867.94), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Rory McEwen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An autumn leaf in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 14,310.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Celebration for a Grey Day, No. 2 von Rory McEwen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.867,94) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rory McEwen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An autumn leaf im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 14.310,49).
