It achieved a price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,389.83), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 19%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rochus van Veen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Dead Starling, which sold at auction in January 2012 for USD 25,000.00 (€ 19,152.69).

Die Arbeit A Pair Of Studies Of Ducks (Possibly European Shovelers) von Rochus van Veen wurde im Juli 2009 in der Auktion Old Master Drawings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.389,83) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 19%. Für andere Arbeiten von Rochus van Veen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Dead Starling beobachtet, die im Januar 2012 für USD 25.000,00 (€ 19.152,69) versteigert wurde.
