Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Potato Harvest in the Fens by Robert Walker Macbeth was sold in the European & British Art auction at Sothebys in London in July 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,900.00 (€ 22,164.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Robert Walker Macbeth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sedge Cutting in Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire - early morning. Sedge cutting is one of the remnants of a fen industry, and Wicken Fen the only remaining portion on which the sedge has free growth. This fen is now reduced to a small acreage by man and in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 65,725.00 (€
