Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gypsy mother travelling with her children by Robert Walker Macbeth was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004. The price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,073.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Walker Macbeth achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sedge Cutting in Wicken Fen, Cambridgeshire - early morning. Sedge cutting is one of the remnants of a fen industry, and Wicken Fen the only remaining portion on which the sedge has free growth. This fen is now reduced to a small acreage by man and in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 65,725.00 (€
Sedge cutting is one of the remnants of a fen industry, and Wicken Fen the only remaining portion on which the sedge has free growth. This fen is now reduced to a small acreage by man and im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 65.725,00 (€ 95.956,43).
