Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'View in the Island of Ceylon'; 'Hermitage at Kurrungalle in Ceylon' by Robert Melville Grindlay was auctioned at Bonhams in London in September last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 892.50 (€ 1,015.75) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Melville Grindlay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Scenery, Costumes and Architecture chiefly on the Western Side of India in September 2007 with an auction result of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 16,131.67).
