In January 2007 Christies in London held the auction British, Continental & Russian Pictures, which included the work Moored vessels at sunset by Richard Short. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 960.00 (€ 1,448.42), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Richard Short have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Terra Nova leaving Cardiff, 15 June 1910 unframed in June this year with an auction result of GBP 5,760.00 (€ 6,703.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Continental & Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Moored vessels at sunset von Richard Short zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 960,00 (€ 1.448,42) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Richard Short auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Terra Nova leaving Cardiff, 15 June 1910 unframed im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.760,00 (€ 6.703,65).
