Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Autumn Scene, Children Coming Home from School by Richard Schmid was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 8,925.00 (€ 8,645.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Schmid - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sangre De Christo Mountains, Taos, New Mexico, which sold at auction in November 2004 for USD 23,900.00 (€ 18,025.49).
