In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work A procession of faries and birds by Richard Doyle. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,287.50 (€ 8,531.91), 51% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Richard Doyle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elves in a Rabbit Warren, which sold at auction in June 2010 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 30,402.33).

Im März 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A procession of faries and birds von Richard Doyle zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.287,50 (€ 8.531,91) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Richard Doyle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Elves in a Rabbit Warren beobachtet, die im Juni 2010 für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 30.402,33) versteigert wurde.
