Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The First Valse by Rex Whistler was sold in the British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations auction at Christies in London in June 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 822.50 (€ 1,272.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rex Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Lady Caroline Paget in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 78,293.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The First Valse von Rex Whistler wurde im Juni 2002 in der Auktion British Art on Paper including Original Book Illustrations bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 822,50 (€ 1.272,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rex Whistler erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Lady Caroline Paget im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.750,00 (€ 78.293,42).
