Auction result misses estimated price range
In July last year a collector was able to acquire the work View of Salerno by Rev. Charles Annesley for GBP 756.00 (€ 902.80). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Rev. Charles Annesley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Monastery At Brescia, Italy, which sold at auction in April 2008 for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,231.00).
