In May 2014 Sothebys in Milan held the auction Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, which included the work Materia E Spaziosigned And Dated 1958, Signed And Dated 1958 On The Reverse, Oil On Canvas by Renato Birolli. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 27,500.00 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Renato Birolli have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Incendio alle Cinque Terre in October 2005 with an auction result of GBP 131,200.00 (€ 193,480.35).

Im Mai 2014 führte Sothebys in Mailand die Auktion Arte Moderna e Contemporanea durch, in der auch die Arbeit Materia E Spaziosigned And Dated 1958, Signed And Dated 1958 On The Reverse, Oil On Canvas von Renato Birolli zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 27.500,00 und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Renato Birolli auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Incendio alle Cinque Terre im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 131.200,00 (€ 193.480,35).
