Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Lake Of The Dismal Swamp by Régis François Gignoux was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,268.37). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Régis François Gignoux - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On The Upper Hudson, which sold at auction in September 2019 for USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,802.84).

Als die Arbeit Lake Of The Dismal Swamp von Régis François Gignoux im Januar 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.268,37) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Régis François Gignoux mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit On The Upper Hudson beobachtet, die im September 2019 für USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.802,84) versteigert wurde.
