This artwork by Rex Whistler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2006. In the British and Continental Watercolours auction, the work A Folio of Illustrations And Designs In Order To Promote Shell Petroleum (One Illustrated) sold for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,207.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rex Whistler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Lady Caroline Paget in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 78,293.42).
